The brand new 34-metre Mulder is a feel-good yacht that pushes the boundaries between inside and out. Often referred to as a beach house on water, Solis is perfect for families and friends.
UK-based Claydon Reeves is responsible for the exterior and interior design. Drawing inspiration from nature and the sun (hence her name), the team came up with the concept of a unique looking yacht that incorporates contemporary yet classic styling.
Walking into her main saloon, a relaxing honey-toned palette is complemented by oak paneling, natural stones and soothing blue accents, to reflect the surrounding seascapes and imitate the hues of the sea and sand. Incorporating full height sliding glass panels, natural light is maximised and the outside/inside living style is well achieved.
The main saloon is inviting and calming with plenty of seating. Passing a bar on the portside is an impressive dining room that seats 10 guests. Full height opening glass doors prevent guests feeling separated from the sea, offering uninterrupted views whilst dining.
Solis has two master suites, both of which offer totally different environments. The first, which is located forward of the main deck, features a large skylight directly above the bed allowing daylight to flood in or views of the night sky.
Moving down to the lower deck, the cool aqua vibe continues. A stunning bronze and resin mural representing a vibrant school of fish covers the corridor walls that lead to the remaining accommodation. Just as impressive as the first, the second master suite stretches the full beam of the yacht, yet it comprises large portholes that offer guests a calming outlook over the water’s surface. The other two ensuite staterooms are doubles, but can be converted into twins.
Proceeding up to the sun deck, the space is arranged in two distinct areas. One of Solis’ best attributes is her flexibility, whereby multiple elements of the yacht can be transformed to make way for alternative facilities. Not only does the sun deck house a sheltered seating/dining area, a barbeque and a bar area, but also hidden under the teak deck is a running machine.
Perfect for lounging or enjoying cocktails at sundown, the Jacuzzi is located aft of the sun deck and features a built-in step that can convert into another bar. Similarly versatile, the aft main deck has been furnished with an al fresco dining table and sofas that can all be converted into a large sun lounger, creating a split-level beach club area allowing for direct access to the sea.
Custom built for comfort, Solis’ at anchor stabilisers mean that roll motion is reduced, resulting in a smoother, more stable experience when stationary. Her economical twin Caterpillar engines power her to reach a top speed of 13 knots.
Inspired by forms found in nature, and designed to be a bridge between water and sky, it is no surprise that Solis was the winner of the World SuperYacht Awards 2016 (for yachts below 500GT) and finalist in three categories for the ShowBoats Design Awards 2016.
