Captain Eric Hollman was born in the outskirts of Detroit, Michigan, where he graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in Psychology. After working in the mental health field as a counselor, he heard the call of the sea and decided to leave his nine-to-five behind, taking a leap of faith aboard a schooner sailing from the Dominican Republic to Galveston, TX.
After that trip, Eric wondered if he might do something like that for a living instead; turns out, he could! After day-sailing and chartering catamarans in South Florida, working on power yachts (which he figured out quickly was not for him!), and chartering in the BVIs on another large monohull and various catamarans, he was happy to find Avalanche in need of a captain, and jumped at the chance to man the helm of such a gorgeous boat. Theres nothing he looks forward to more than cutting the engines and listening only to the wind and the waves under sail, and Avalanche performs so well its a dream come true.
When Eric isnt taking guests on exciting sailing charters aboard Avalanche, youll find him climbing mountains, free-diving, visiting friends and family on cross-country road trips, training in Jiu-Jitsu, Muay-Thai, and MMA, reading, writing, telling jokes, kite-boarding, learning how to spin fire poi, and practicing viola.
Chef Stephanie was born in Boston, Massachusetts. At a young age she developed a natural talent for cooking and excelled at combining flavors. She took pride in aesthetic presentation of her dishes and access to fresh New England sea fare inspired many of her meal ideas. She spent many of her summers on her family’s sail boat in Maine and has always had a great appreciation of the sea.
Stephanice has also been a registered yoga teacher since 2012 so health and balance is of great importance to her. She is thrilled to be here in the Virgin Islands as a charter chef aboard Avalanche.
