Abaco Regatta 2017
This year’s Regatta Time In Abaco (RTIA) is slated to be the most fun and exciting in the 42 year history of the races. First, this year’s event is scheduled for June 24th – June 30th, 2017. To spice up the fun, the schedule of races progresses opposite to the previous year’s events, from south to north, ending with the Green Turtle Race on June 29th. Of course no RTIA week would be complete without the Cheeseburger in Paradise Party on Fiddle Cay, which will be held on Friday, June 30th.
“Regatta Time In Abaco” is the largest event hosted in Abaco during the month of June. Over 1,000 visitors and locals attend the races and parties held each day. Regatta Time in Abaco is a series of 4 races that takes racers throughout the beautiful Islands of the Abaco. Parties and lay days scheduled on the various islands allow visitors to get a taste of the culture, hospitality and beauty that makes up the Islands of the Abaco.
There is one overall objective of Regatta Time in Abaco: to have fun! So, with this objective in mind, Dream Ketcher will follow (and not race) the 2017 Regatta, and the idea is to have fun fun fun! For the racing boats, the races start at 11:00am for a couple of hours of fun! There are 4 days of racing:
– Race #1 is in Hope town;
– Race #2 is between Hope Town and Great Guana Cay;
– Race #3 is between Great Guana Cay to Treasure Cay;
– Race #4 is in Green Turtle.
In between, lay-days to enjoy the beaches, going snorkeling or sailing, to discover the settlements, or doing nothing but enjoying life at its best! And of course, to get ready to party every night in each settlement with special events organized for the Regatta followers! Then, gourmet dinner will be served on board with no less than a 5-course meal every night! This year, the Regatta will end up in Fiddle Cay’s powdery white inhabited beach which sees a good crowd and where booths, food lines and play areas are set up. For lunch, participants enjoy 1,200 cheeseburgers, 400 pounds of fries, 400 hot dogs, 100 gallons of margaritas, and 100 gallons of rum punch on the beach. Food, booze, margarita or rum, is for free! A very nice way to end up a wonderful stay in the Abaco!
The Regatta brings the opportunity in 9 days to visit most of the Abaco Cays with excellent weather and must-go places!
Our 2017 Regatta Package rates 8 nights (9 days) for the usual weekly rate for 4 persons – either 2 couples or a family!
